D365 - HSO Service Module - Inactive serial number

Question:

We have a valid serial number that has been coded as inactive….S3431301369KFBCH

Can this object be made active again or do we have to re-create it?

Answer:

This happened previously with Mark. Create a new machine object with the same serial number that is active.

Nobody liked the solution, but once it is deactivated, it is permanent.
